Description
While magnolias are well known throughout the deep south many would be surprised that they are a hardy and common beach resident along the gulf coast from the Florida Panhandle, through south Alabama and on the barrier islands of Mississippi.
Unlike their inland counterparts the grow outward instead of upward spreading out across the sugar white dunes. They are rarely more than a few feet high in the dunes and the flowers are low so you can catch the their sweet scent as you relax in the dunes along the Gulf Coast.
