Description
A few years ago a woman at a cocktail party heard I was a landscape artist and stated that I must be excited about shooting the Cherry Blossom Festival. I told her no, I wasn't going to shoot it at all.
You see, I don't like shooting images with a thousand of my closest cohorts all fighting for the best shot. I got to thinking about it and decided I would go. Instead of planning to shoot at sunrise with all the others I got there at 2:30 AM and wandered about alone. I shot this as the fog and mist started to lift. I put my camera back in my pack and enjoyed watching the mobs arrive. There were thousands of amateur and professional photographers around the Tidal Basin and even a couple TV news crews. I have no doubt they produced some spectacular images but I just walked around end enjoyed the views knowing I had the one shot I had come to get.
