Air Force aircraft usually have an official nickname and an unofficial nickname. For instance, the B-1B is officially called the Lancer but its aircrews and maintainers know it affectionately as The Bone. The F-35 is officially the Lightning II but it would seem “The Reaper” is fast becoming its true nickname.
