Description
Wichita has been the namesake for three US Navy vessels. The first was a heavy cruiser commissioned in 1939. She served gallantly throughout WWII in both the North Atlantic and in the Pacific. The image of the Wichita firing her guns is woven into the bottom right of the Wichita Flag.
The latest USS Wichita, LCS-13, is one of the US Navy's newest Littoral Combat Ships and is shown during her launch in 2016. She will conduct her sea trials and join the fleet in the near future.
