Description
Alabama is a state with deep traditions from its football teams to its military members. There have been a total of seven ships that have carried the Alabama name.
Pictured on the state flag are the three most recent Naval warships proudly wearing the name USS Alabama. There is the BB-8 a pre-dreadnought battleship at the bottom.
The USS Alabama BB60 battleship the served gallantly in the second World War and is now a museum on Mobile Bay AL.
The current USS Alabama is an Ohio Class ballistic missile submarine serving with the US Navy.
